TAG – Training Accessibility Guidelines (Question 24)

The examples discussed below will focus on using two popular training development tools (Articulate Storyline 2 and Camtasia Studio).

Content will focus on how you can meet the success criteria for each section of the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines.

Content Recommendation is for the following WCAG 2.0 Sections:

2.1.1 Keyboard
2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap
2.1.3 Keyboard (No Exception)

Questions to consider:

Can you access all educational objects and interface features using only the keyboard?

How Articulate Storyline 2 can meet success criteria:

  • By ensuring educational objects have (Object is visible to accessibility tools – enabled).
  • By default the Articulate Storyline 2 Interface can be controlled by only using the keyboard.
  • By enabling the table of contents menu it can remove any potential for being in a keyboard trap.
  • Another option to consider is enabling next and previous on all screens. However this can cause issues for content that you want non-accessible tool users to watch and not skip.  Optional concept is to hide navigation buttons from non-accessible users.
